Overview
International Travel Support (ITS) Scheme provides financial assistance to Indian researchers for presenting a research paper in an international scientific event (conference, seminar, workshop etc.) held abroad. In addition, support is also provided to young scientists (age limit below 35 years as on date of start of the event) for attending training programmes, Short-term schools and Workshops. The maximum duration for training programs, schools, and workshops is limited to 21 days. Economy class air-fare by shortest route, airport-tax and visa fees are provided under the scheme. Registration fee as per actual or Rs. 50,000/- whichever is less will be provided to young scientist (Age< 35 on the date of start of event) in addition to the above support. Applications can be submitted within the window of 60-90 days in advance from the date of start of the event. The system will not accept early or late submission of applications. However, applicant who has already submitted a proposal will not be eligible to apply again within next 90 days from the date of submission of the first application.
Eligibility
Applicant should be an active Indian researcher engaged in R&D work in recognized academic institutions or research laboratories in India.
The applicant should have an invitation for presenting an original scientific paper. Similar invitation is required in the case of young scientists attending training programmes such as short term courses, summer/winter schools, workshop etc.
The applicant should not have availed financial assistance under this Scheme during the last three years.
The scientific event should be of an international character. Invitation of personal nature such as for carrying out post-doctoral work, informal training programmes/courses, internship, observer-ship etc. will not be eligible for support.
Applicant must have obtained Master's degree in Science or Bachelor's degree in professional courses from a recognized University by the time of submission of application.

Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India
Overview
Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India provides financial assistance towards organizing Conference/ Seminar/ Symposium/ Workshop and Travel support to the researchers for presenting their papers in the conferences which are being organised outside the country. It also extends support for organising DBT stalls in Exhibitions held within the country as well as outside the country. Financial supports are also provided for organising Popular Lectures. The collective term for these four activities is CTEP (Conference, Travel, Exhibition and Popular Lectures).
Eligibility
Applicant should be an Indian student, post-doctoral fellow
Teachers, scientists, professors etc. in government institutions (central & state) and universities (central & state) engaged in teaching, research and development and promotion of biotechnology.
Minimum educational qualification should be Post Graduate in Science or Bachelor degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent qualification.
The applicant should not have availed financial assistance for travel support from Government in the last three financial years.
The applicant should have an accepted paper for presentation preferably as a single or lead author.
Application submitted online (www.dbtctep.gov.in) only will be considered. Proposals submitted physically (hardcopy) will not be accepted.

International Travel by Non-Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) Scientists
Overview
The Scheme provides financial assistance for presenting research paper or chairing a session as also delivering a lecture/delivering a keynote address in an international scientific event (Conference/Seminar/Symposia/Workshops) to Non-ICMR biomedical Scientists/Researchers.
1.2 In addition, support is also provided to young scientists/researchers (age limit 35 years as on date of Conference), nurses and paramedical staff for attending training programmes and short- term schools/workshops/courses on the basis of the priority areas already defined.
Eligibility
The applicant should be a biomedical scientist engaged in R&D work. Senior scientists (above 35 years of age) working in academic institutions and research laboratories are eligible to apply only to international scientific events (Conference/Seminar/Symposium/Workshop) which are not sponsored by International Council of Scientific Unions (ICSU). Young scientists (age limit 35 years as on date of conference) are, however, considered for support even for ICSU sponsored events.

This scheme is for providing financial assistance to permanent teachers and librarians of colleges and vice-chancellor of state universities, deemed to be universities and central universities, recognised under section 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act, to present research papers at international conferences abroad.

The Inlaks Research and Travel Grant
Overview: The Inlaks Research and Travel Grant (IRTG) is awarded to registered PhD students at Indian universities, to undertake short term visits to institutions abroad to collect material, use facilities and consult experts.
Eligibility
The applicant must be an Indian passport holder residing in India.
The applicant must be born on or after 1st January 1990.
The applicant must be a registered PhD candidate at an Indian university for at least two years but not more than three years at the time of application.
The applicant must have a first-class Bachelor’s and Master’s degree.
The applicant must be pursuing a PhD in Humanities and Social Sciences only.
The applicant must have proof of positive communication from the experts that they wish to engage with.

India Bioscience
Overview: In 2016, the programme supported 10 early-career researchers, who attended scientific meetings to present and discuss their work with leading scientists in their fields. We received very positive feedback, as the majority of grantees achieved their goals for promoting their research and setting up new collaborations at the meetings they attended with eLife’s support.
Eligibility: We encourage postdoctoral and independent scientists with up to five years of active research experience, and who have authored or co-authored a research paper published (or accepted for publication) at eLife, to apply online with our simple application form. Applicants who have had an abstract of high scientific merit already accepted for presentation at their chosen meeting will be treated with priority.
We especially welcome applications from researchers requiring international travel to their meeting of choice.
